Best Gluten Free Key Lime Pie in Key West

The ultimate guide for where to find gluten-free (GF) Key Lime Pie in the Florida Keys

On our recent trip to Key West, FL, my gluten-free family and I tried all the Key Lime Pie and treats we could! I was so happy that multiple shops offered gluten-free options and was blown away by the deliciousness. Here are some of the places we found:

1. GF Key Lime Tart at Moondog

Ok, it’s not pie. But it is seriously so good!! My jaw dropped when we wandered into Moondog Cafe to get a cold drink and saw gluten-free Key Lime tarts in the bakery display case. Of course we had to try it and thank goodness we did, since it is still my favorite Key Lime treat ever. They had other gluten-free treats as well, including muffins and macaroons. Go earlier in the day to snag this delicious item; we tried to get a tart again around dinnertime on our last night, but they were sold out.

2. GF Key Lime Pie at Kermit’s

The gluten-free Key Lime Pie at Kermit’s Key West Key Lime Shoppe was so good we had to have it twice! It’s a single slice that comes in it’s own container, and it can be enjoyed on the back patio of the Duval Street location or on-the-go. Kermit’s also has many other tasty Key Lime treats to sample or purchase, including regular Key Lime Pie (for our non-gluten free friends!), Key Lime hard candy, Key Lime fudge, Key Lime taffy, and more. Bonus: there’s 2 locations! We went to the location on Duval Street both times based on where we were staying, but the Elizabeth Street location is convenient for sunsets at Mallory Square and for walking around the docks.

3. GF chocolate-covered Key Lime Pie at Key West Key Lime Pie Co.

In Key West, a popular treat is Key Lime Pie covered in chocolate on a stick. This unfortunately includes the crust, not just the filling, but Key West Key Lime Pie Co. offers a gluten-free version! I really wanted to try it, but they were sold out when we went. They also offer gluten-free Key Lime Pies and slices.

4. GF Mini Key Lime Pie at Midway Cafe

On our way back to the mainland, we stopped for some drinks at Midway Cafe in Islamorada, and discovered they had gluten-free key lime treats! The mini Key Lime Pie looked delicious, and I was hoping to try a gluten-free Key Lime muffin, but they were sold out for the day. Next time!
